New Secure Mobility Report Explores Best Practices Uncovers Barriers – by Sharon Valencik

No Comments 23 May 2010

The Telecom Intelligence Group announces the launch of the Secure Mobility Report microsite (www.telecomweb.com/securemobilityreport ). Inaugural content on the site explores the best practices and technologies to support mobile devices, medicine and it also explores the impact Wireless LAN security fear is having on enterprises, order service providers and technology manufacturers. Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) April 4, 2006 — The Telecom Intelligence Group announces the launch of the Secure Mobility Report microsite (www.telecomweb.com/securemobilityreport ). Inaugural content on the site explores the best practices and technologies to support mobile devices, and it also explores the impact Wireless LAN security fear is having on enterprises, service providers and technology manufacturers. “The increasingly mobile workforce is raising the ante on enterprise systems security. Organizations in the public and private sector are reevaluating what it means to secure critical information assets when they use wireless infrastructure inside and outside of their organizational boundaries,” says Mike O’Neill, vice president and group publisher at The Telecom Intelligence Group. “The mission of the secure mobility report is to provide practical insight into the strategic, operational, technical and financial considerations that advance secure mobility worldwide.” The Secure Mobility Report features exclusive research from TelecomWeb’s sister organization InfoTech, the premiere provider of market intelligence and analysis to the telecom industry. Jeanine Sterling, vice president and senior program director for InfoTech’s InfoTrack for Enterprise Mobility, will provide ongoing quantitative and qualitative research reports on security developments that are driving major decisions to support the global mobile infrastructure. Readers also will have access to news and analysis, case studies, exclusive white papers and Webinars. Current features on the site include: M-Commerce: The Next Big Disruptive Thing for the Secure Mobility Report Wireless carriers have the potential to become quasi-banks, slowly adding more financial functions as the market demands and slowly loosening the bonds between banks and their customers, says Tom Miezejeski, vice president of research at the Pelorus Group. Siemens Rolls Out HiPath 2000 Siemens Communications Inc. expanded its HiPath portfolio to include the new HiPath 2000, a new IP PBX that is “tailor-made” for small businesses with fewer than 30 employees. WLAN Security Fears Compounded By Lack of IT Planning It has been almost two years since the 802.11i security extension was ratified, and U.S. companies are still ranking “security concerns” as their Number One reason not to deploy a wireless LAN (WLAN). Even more eye-opening is the fact that respondents to InfoTech’;s most recent mobility survey expect security fears to continue to be, far and away, their top WLAN implementation barrier through 2008. Selling Broadband To First-Responders Municipal police departments are among the most voracious consumers of mobile broadband products and services. Warfighting And Ground Terminals: The Satellite Edge When it comes to delivering bandwidth in the battlefield, the U.S. military is in what is best described as rapid-recovery mode. Weekly Secure Mobility News Briefs * McAfee, SmartTrust Unveil Virus Solution * DoD Hires Wireless Security Evaluator * EMS Service Buys Cost-Cutting Vehicle Router System * Consumer Wi-Fi Needs User-Friendly Security * Columbitech Bolsters Symbian Support * CBBB Program Helps Secure Small-Biz Info The microsite is sponsored by secure mobility solutions provider Siemens Communications. “The mobility space has evolved at a frenetic pace during the last 18 months,” says Sterling. “Technologies, business strategies and best practices consequently have changed in response. Given this dynamic environment, it is important to stay abreast and understand the impact these rapidly unfolding developments have on the marketplace. This is why Siemens decided to support the production of exclusive research and independent analysis of this sector of business and technology,” according to Sterling. Motavo Venture Group, generic LLC, a professional services and investment firm announced today that it has provided start-up funding and professional services for Kids Mobility Network, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing durable medical equipment to disabled children. (PRWEB) November 10, 2005 — Motavo Venture Group, LLC, a professional services and investment firm announced today that it has provided start-up funding and professional services for Kids Mobility Network, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing durable medical equipment to disabled children. “I am so proud for Motavo Venture Group be a part of starting Kids Mobility Network,” said Peter Kopp, founder of Motavo Venture Group. “We have been working on this quietly for a while and I am so pleased to see it coming together. It’s exciting to see so many well-known local and national organizations are behind this project.” Based in the Denver, Colorado metro area, Kids Mobility Network, Inc. is changing the lives of disabled children by providing durable medical equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs to children whose families are underinsured or uninsured. Children often outgrow this equipment long before its useful life is exhausted, so Kids Mobility Network is working to see that this equipment is put to use when the original child no longer has use for it. The organization accepts both equipment and financial donations from the community. After reconditioning donated equipment, the organization will then make the equipment available for appropriate children. “The goal of the organization is to utilize this equipment to provide greater safety, mobility and independence for children in their development years,” added Peter Kopp. “It is so important for children to have the necessary equipment that allows them to optimize interaction with their peers. It helps them to develop important relationships, social skills and self-confidence.” To donate to Kids Mobility Network, Inc. or to learn more about the organization, visit the organization’s website at www.kidsmobility.org.
